Hi there! ‘Tis the season for graduation card making. We are in the thick of it here with our children being of age to have many graduation friends. I’ve created a couple of cards using the Rad Grad set. It’s no secret that I love every single one of CZ Designs, and she nailed it with this Rad Grad graduation set. I embossed the bold Rad Grad sentiment in clear and blended over with distress inks. I LOVE that many of the sentiments have coordinating dies.
Shakers just make everthing a celebration, don’t ya think? I used one of the Basic Rectangle dies to create a shaker window onto Fog cardstock.
I filled the shakers with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins & star confetti. I also added a graduation cap above the bold sentiment that is also from the Rad Grad set.I’d love to pick your brain on a few questions I’ve been pondering concerning graduation parties. How much money do you give a graduate: 8th grade, high school, college? I mean, what’s the going rate these days? Also, and more importantly, how do I refrain from eating cake and meatballs at every single party? Thanks so much for stopping by!

May 23, 2018 at 3:16 pmGreat job on the cards. I love Fog card stock and shakers. I am so far removed from the graduate question that I cannot even pretend to answer that question. Good luck with all that.

May 23, 2018 at 3:56 pmLOL I don’t know how to restrain from all the food myself, Laura! LOL Maybe, just eat like they are orderve’s at each party? A nibble here & there at each party? AND as for the going rate for High School, I’m not sure on that one either. Our daughter graduated from College, & my girlfriend usually sends $50 for our kids graduations. That would be A LOT if you have several kids to give to. It really depends on how much you have to spend & how many kids you’ve got to give toward. MAYBE, you could find a small inexpensive gift(s) that would fit for each kid & wrap that up instead of $$$! Or a gift card that isn’t large, but something that would be a help to buy something they want from a specific/popular store? These might be cheaper options! 😉
Your cards looks WONDERFUL too! I too am enjoying CZ Designs! (I FINALLY got your set in the mail today!!!! Grid Play & HOPE to play with it later on today or tomorrow! YEAH!) 😉 I LOVE that you made Shaker Cards for these Graduations cards. They ARE SO FESTIVE & CELEBRATORY! SUPER JOB, Laura!!!! HAVE FUN at ALL of those Graduation parties!!!!

May 23, 2018 at 6:00 pmI love this card so much! My son graduated from high school last Friday night and he’s received a lot of $25 and $50 gifts! But I can’t help you with the cake and meatballs problem because if you’re eating those snacks at all the parties then you’re my spirit animal. 😉

May 23, 2018 at 6:58 pmWe tend to give $25 cash for the most part. Godchildren might get a bit more. Anxious to see what others are doing. Great question!

May 23, 2018 at 7:11 pmNice cards. For 8th graders I would not give them money, but a gift card for $25-$40 for their favorite coffee shop, book store etc. High School $100. College depending on their relationship to me $100 – $200.

May 23, 2018 at 7:50 pmAwesome grad shaker cards, Laura! I love that you used Fog cardstock for the front panels and your ink blending is awesome! Your grads are going to feel very special to receive one of your cards!
As far as a gift, it depends on how close we are to the graduate. When it comes to food, I have no control whatsoever, so I am of no help to you…so sorry, my friend!

May 23, 2018 at 8:08 pmLike your Rad Grad cards. Like the shaker style. I have the Rad Grad set and made 2 cards for my daughter who rcvd her Master’s in Art Animation Technology from University of Texas at Dallas UTD. She did not & we did not send out announcements of her graduation but my younger sister sent her a ck for $25. As far as grad present from us we put down money towards a new car, 2017 Nissan Altima, and she is making the car payments. She traded in the 2003 NA we had bought for her when she was a senior in high school. Car had lots of miles on it but was in wonderful shape inside and showed it’s age on the outside.

May 24, 2018 at 6:40 amThese cards are perfect for girls or boys! We are also in the thick of grad season with my daughter graduating high school this year. For 8th grade (my son is “graduating 8th grade this year), we give $0. There are no parties or social events for those here in eastern Iowa. For high school, we give anywhere from $20 – $50 depending on how close we are to the grad or the family. For college, I’ll have to get back to you on that in four years. 🙂

May 24, 2018 at 3:22 pmYour cards are super, as always! I love your style. Although, I’m probably older than your mom, I think we would be great friends if we were neighbors! :o) I was hoping to see some answers to your questions. I think on the money gift thing, part of it depends on how much you can afford first, but also how close are you to that person. Ya know, if it’s your own kid, ya gotta give more than the nephew of the sister of your uncle by marriage to your dad’s step brother who you have never met. Am I right? As for the cake and meatballs, let us all know if you figure it out!
